Along with colleagues from AEM, I’ve recently completed authoring Shared Mobility Data: A Resource Guide. This report provides readers with a curated guide to over 40 online and other reference material related to the collection, management, and use of shared mobility data. It primarily covers micromobility data, but also includes information related to ridesharing and ride hailing (taxi) data. The guide provides one-page summaries of each reference so that the reader can determine the resources that best address their issues of interest. The primary intended audience is management and staff of public agencies responsible for shared mobility.
It includes summaries of relevant reference literature, example licensing agreements and data governance documents, standards, open-source software implementing the standards, organizations active in this area, and examples of public data sets and information dashboards. These resources address:
- Operations
- Planning & Analysis
- Enforcement
- Data Sharing Policies & Practices
- Use of Third Parties for Data Management
- Curb Management
- Communicating with the Public
The guide was developed as part of NCHRP 08-119: Data Integration, Sharing, and Management for Transportation Planning and Traffic Operations. It is available online at https://nchrp08-119.transportationops.org/sites/default/files/pdfs/Shared%20Mobility%20Guide.pdf
